About Saltwater Sweeties Tournament

The Saltwater Sweeties Annual Ladies Fishing Tournament is the primary fundraising event for the Coastal Bend Guides Association. All proceeds are for Costal Bend Guides Association, Coastal Bend Communities and Driscoll Children’s Hospital Chemo Kids-Fish Off Tournament  Our sponsors provide the foundation for our event and this year is going to be phenomenal with over 250 ladies participating…so please visit our “Top Sponsors”  who so generously have donated time, services or products in order to make this year’s tournament fantastic!

Side Pots: 70/30 Payout to the 1st place winner of the side-pot category. 70% goes to 1st place winner of each side pot category, 30% goes to CBGA. ($50 Per Category): Most Spots, Heaviest Redfish, Heaviest Trout, Heaviest Black Drum, Backjack (Redfish closest to 21” without going over), Heaviest Gaftop.

Rules & Regulations

ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE, ANY CHANGES WILL BE NOTED DURING THE CAPTIANS MEETING

All participants and occupants of their boats registering for the Coastal Bend Guides Association Saltwater Sweeties Annual Ladies Fishing Tournament do so voluntarily and at their own risk. Each registered participant agrees to release and hold harmless tournament officials, sponsors, and all others connected directly or indirectly with the said tournament from any liability, libel, slander, loss, damage, negligence, injury, harm, or death suffered by any participant during the tournament.

CBGA holds the right to take photos of all the tournament activities, the weigh-in and the winning team and/or /individuals. As a registered tournament participant, it is understood that you give permission to the CBGA and Saltwater Sweeties Annual Ladies Fishing Tournament® entity to use tournament photos whether printed or digitally reproduced, for future publicity, press releases, brochures and flyers, website content and promotions, advertising pieces and marketing campaigns as well as usage on our Saltwater Sweeties dedicated Facebook pages. Should the hold-harmless statement or the photograph permission release pose a problem, contact.

All contestants are expected to obey all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and laws. Violation of such rules may result in your disqualification from the tournament. You must have a valid fishing license with a saltwater stamp. If paying for a Fishing Guide, the guide must be USCG and TPWD licensed.

Safe boating should be always observed. Follow all City, State and Federal boating laws. Life jackets are required onboard by law and are recommended to be worn while under way. Tournament day may be shortened or rescheduled due to unsafe weather or water conditions. The decision to shorten or to cancel will be left totally to the discretion of the Tournament Committee.

Tournament Day fishing times. The official time to commence fishing will be announced at the captains’ meeting. Fishing may not commence any earlier than ½ hour before sunrise. When to quit fishing is up to you, but make sure you can make it to the weigh in line on time.

    • The tournament is open to all female anglers.
    • Official tournament hours are 30 minutes prior to sunrise until 3 PM the day of the tournament, rain or shine.
    • Wade, bank, surf, jetties, pier or any legal means of fishing is permissible; however, NO SAIL LINES OR TROTLINES are permitted.
    • There are NO fishing boundaries.
    • Official weigh-in starts at 12:00 p.m. and ends at 3:00 p. m. the day of the tournament. All anglers must be IN LINE by 3 p.m.
    • There are 4 Divisions: Ladies Only (4 women only), Guided, Non-Guided, and Little Sweeties (13 and under)
    • No males unless operating a boat (ONE ONLY).
    • Trophies for 1st & 2nd place in the Ladies Only, Little Sweeties, Guided and Non-Guided divisions in the following team category: HEAVIEST STRINGER (2 REDFISH, 1 TROUT, 1 DRUM)
    • NO OVERSIZED REDFISH, BLACK DRUM, OR TROUT WILL BE WEIGHED, TAGGED OR NOT.
    • Team Entries must use only ONE boat for all anglers on the team. Anglers may NOT be dropped off in different locations.
    • In the case of a tie, the winner will be decided by length. If length is equal, the winner will be decided by time with the winner being the first fish weighed in.
    • Someone may assist you in baiting your hook, casting, and netting. It is your job to “set the hook” and reel the fish to the boat.

    Categories (Divisions)

    Ladies Only Anglers Division

    • Only to consist of up to 4 ladies one of which will act as captain.
    • Female USCG- State Licensed Guides are allowed in this division.
    • Any bait is allowed

    Guided Division

    • One (1) Male (XY- chromosome)  may be on board the boat acting as captain.
    • Female licensed guides may enter this division acting as guide only and will not be able to fish.
    • Any bait is allowed.

    Non-Guided Division

    • One (1) Male (XY- chromosome) or one (1) Female (2X- chromosome) may be on board the boat acting as captain.
    • Any bait is allowed

    Little Sweeties Division

    • One (1) Male (XY- chromosome) or one (1) Female (2X- chromosome) may be on board the boat acting as captain or guide and will not be able to fish.
    • Age of participants in division is 13 years of age and under.
    • Any bait is allowed

    • All anglers 17 and older must have a valid Texas fishing license.
    • Any team who wishes to fish in the company of a professional fishing guide during tournament hours must enter the Guided Division only. If it is found that a team fished in the company of a professional guide during tournament hours and they were not signed up in the Guided Division, the team will be disqualified from the tournament as well as future tournaments. (Excluding Little Sweeties Division). o If the team’s boat operator holds Texas Parks and Wildlife Guide Fishing License or advertises/promotes as a Guide the team MUST register under the Guided Division. (Excluding the Little Sweeties Division).
    • All state and federal penal code and game laws shall apply at all times.
    • All Texas, Coast Guard and State Parks and Wildlife regulations shall apply at all times.
    • Each angler/team must be a registered entrant of the tournament and must abide by all tournament rules and regulations.
    • Tournament directors retain the right to refuse any entry.

    Registration and Entry Fee:

    • Entry for all eligible anglers is $100 (Early Registration) / $125 (Late Registration).
    • Absolutely NO refund of entry fees will be issued.
    • At least one angler from each team must attend the Captain’s Meeting Friday to sign in and listen to the reading of the official tournament rules.

  • Weigh-in/Sportsmanship:

    • This is a live fish weigh in.
    • .5 Lbs.  will be deducted from the weight of any dead fish weighed in
    • All anglers must be IN LINE by 3 p.m.
    • NO OVERSIZED REDFISH, BLACK DRUM, OR TROUT WILL BE WEIGHED, TAGGED OR NOT!
    • All fish presented for weigh-in will be monitored for freshness and will be inspected by a

        Weigh Master or Biologist.

    • All fish weighed in and entered must be caught during official tournament hours on the day of the tournament.
    • Fishtail fin can touch line but cannot go over
    • There will be NO sharing of ice chests at weigh-in.
    • All fish must be weighed-in by the team who originally caught the fish and must be in that team’s physical possession at the time of weigh-in.
    • Sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation are expected from all entrants.
    • Only the fish to be weighed in are to be in the weigh in area.
    • All game laws of the state of Texas, applicable to fishing on public waters, must be followed.
    • Any violations will be cause for immediate disqualification. Any and all winnings will be forfeited.
    • Any and all winners may be subject to and required to pass a polygraph test at the discretion of the Coastal Bend Guide Association Board of Directors.
    • Any entrant/team found to be in violation of any tournament rules and regulations will be subject to disqualification from this tournament and all future tournaments.
    • ALL DECISIONS MADE BY TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS AND WEIGH MASTER ARE FINAL.
    • After weigh-in; ALL LIVE FISH WILL BE TURNED OVER AND RELEASED. ALL DEAD FISH WILL HAVE TAILS or (FINS) CUT. If your team does NOT intend on keeping your catch you may ask anyone in the weigh-in area if they would like your catch or your team may place it in the community chest.
    • All live fish will be turned over to be released
    • All dead fish will have tails cut to keep fish from being weighed in twice

    TEAMS STRINGER

    • Two legal 20’’-28’’ slot Redfish
    • One legal 15’’-20’’ slot Speckled Trout (Slot may change due to regulations) TBA
    • One legal 14’’-30’’ slot Black Drum
  • Protest:

    • All protests must be submitted in writing to the Coastal Bend Guide Association director at [email protected] along with a $100 deposit, within fifteen (15) minutes of the last angler check-in.
    • The protester agrees that if there is a question of verifying the charge of a protest they may be required to participate in a polygraph test.
    • The tournament committee will follow up on any accusations and if they find the claim to be true, the cash deposit shall be returned to the contestant submitting the protest. If there is not enough evidence or factual information to support the accusation the deposit is forfeited to the Coastal Bend Guide Association.
  • There are 6 Side-Pot Categories: Most Spots (redfish), Blackjack (redfish closest to 21” without going over), Heaviest Trout, Heaviest Gaftop, Heaviest Black Drum, Heaviest Redfish (28-inch max, no Tags).
  • Side-pots are $50 for each category. Your team must pay into the Side-pot category you enter in order to win payout.
  • Your team may enter any and all side-pot categories.
  • 100% Payout to the 1st place winner of the side-pot category.
  • Heaviest fish wins. In the case of a tie, the winner will be decided by length. If length is equal, the winner will be decided by time with the winner being the first fish weighed in.
  • The stringer consists of 1 trout, 2 redfish and 1 black drum. (No duplicate species can be submitted). For example: 2 Redfish and 2 Trout is NOT acceptable.

The Coastal Bend Guide Association & Board of Directors, Chandlers Landing, the City of Aransas Pass, and Saltwater Sweeties event sponsors are not liable for any accidents, injuries, losses or mishaps.
